Chief Telecom (6561) is preparing its new data center to meet the demands of the AI era. The LY2 AI Data Center, located on Jiuzong Road in Neihu, will house NVIDIA’s GB200 servers, each valued at NT$100 million. A total investment of NT$3.5 billion has gone into the facility’s construction, which includes comprehensive solutions for its architecture and power supply. The building is designed to withstand a magnitude 7 earthquake. To ensure security, military-grade anti-ram bollards have been installed at the entrance to the underground parking garage to prevent unauthorized access.
Robust Design: 6-meter ceiling heights with a floor load capacity of 2,000 kg/m²
Chief Telecom’s new AI data center on Jiuzong Road in Neihu is a seven-story building with two underground levels. Each floor has a 6-meter ceiling height and can support up to 2,000 kg per square meter. For security, military-grade anti-ram bollards have been installed at the entrance to the underground parking garage to prevent unauthorized entry.
Robust Infrastructure: Built to withstand a level-7 earthquake, LY2 is equipped with a 20MW power supply and 12 backup generators
Recognizing the high power demands of AI servers, the LY2 Data Center is equipped with 12 generators. It also has diesel tanks of up to 128,000 liters, located on the first floor, which can power the generators for two days.
The LY2 AI Data Center is engineered with a unique seismic isolation system, rather than vibration reduction or damping. An isolation layer with dampers, similar to a car’s shock absorbers, located between the first floor and the basement, allows the building to withstand a level-7 earthquake.
The LY2 data center has a robust power infrastructure with a total capacity of 20MW, evenly distributed between its north and south sides. Each floor features dual-loop power supply, significantly enhancing redundancy and simplifying maintenance.
High-Capacity Elevators: 2,500 kg-capacity elevators facilitate the easy and secure transport of heavy AI server racks.
Inside the building, the two elevators at the LY2 building are exceptionally robust. While standard elevators typically have a capacity of around 1,000 kg, one of the passenger-and-freight elevators can handle 2,500 kg, and the other dedicated freight elevator can bear a significant 3,500 kg.
This high load capacity is essential because AI servers are delivered in full racks, which are too heavy for manual handling and require mechanical equipment. The elevators are specifically designed to support the combined weight of the servers and the machinery required to move them, which necessitates a significantly higher load capacity.
The server floors have also been thoughtfully designed. The entrance to the data hall features a loading dock, similar to those in a factory, which allows machinery to easily move and install the AI servers.
