Chief Telecom: A Key Force in Taiwan’s Digital Convergence
As we discuss the advent of the AI era, it’s clear that breakthroughs in artificial intelligence technology require the robust backing of a powerful and stable digital infrastructure. This issue focuses on a pioneer in Taiwan’s critical digital infrastructure: Chief Telecom’s Leading-edge AI Data Center (LY2). We’ll explore how Chief Telecom’s forward-looking strategy is building a digital convergence hub capable of supporting the massive demands of future AI applications.
Chief Telecom’s LY2, a NT$3.5 billion investment located in Neihu, represents not just a hardware upgrade but a significant leap forward for Taiwan’s data center capabilities. Addressing the immense power requirements of AI applications, LY2 has a formidable 20MW power supply capacity, sufficient to meet the operational needs of large-scale AI data centers. Furthermore, it incorporates exclusive seven-level seismic isolation technology. This innovative design, utilizing seismic isolation pads, makes the entire building appear to “float” above the ground, ensuring the safety of valuable client assets even during extreme earthquakes.
LY2 features robust power backup and cooling systems. This includes 11 generators on the rooftop and dual diesel tanks capable of providing 24 hours of backup power. For its cooling system, Chief Telecom utilizes magnetic bearing centrifugal chillers, significantly enhancing cooling efficiency. These comprehensive designs guarantee uninterrupted data center operations and contribute to an excellent Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.4. This not only highlights Chief Telecom’s technological leadership but also directly addresses the urgent need for a stable computing environment in the age of AI.
Simultaneously, the Taipei Internet Exchange (TPIX), Taiwan’s largest and currently the 67th largest globally, is actively playing an increasingly critical role on the world stage. TPIX’s core value lies in providing an efficient network traffic exchange platform. This allows ISPs, content providers, and cloud service operators to directly peer and exchange data, effectively reducing latency, cutting costs, and enhancing network stability. This is vital for a digital economy increasingly reliant on global interconnection.
Chief Telecom goes beyond providing hardware facilities; we are dedicated to building a complete digital ecosystem. With over 25 years of experience in data center, we’ve steadily expanded our ecosystem to include submarine cables and exchange centers. Through TPIX’s global reach and intelligent traffic analysis technology, Chief Telecom is steadily advancing towards becoming an “East Asian Digital Convergence Hub” and a “Cloud AI Application Center.” We aim to be a steadfast partner for clients looking to expand internationally and maximize their potential.
