Chief Telecom (TWSE: 6561), Taiwan’s leading IDC provider, has officially announced a landmark investment of over NT$3 billion to construct its fourth AI data center at the Central Taiwan Science Park. Driven by the global explosion in AI computing demand and the projected full capacity of its LY2 AI Data Center by 2028, this strategic expansion aims to capture the burgeoning AI application and agent service markets in central and southern Taiwan. By establishing this new facility, Chief Telecom not only aligns with national regional development policies but also strengthens its infrastructure to support the next generation of AI-driven digital transformation while creating significant local employment opportunities.
Chairman Jerry Shao noted that Chief Telecom has achieved record-breaking revenue and profits for eight consecutive years since its IPO. With the LY2 AI Data Center approaching full capacity within the next two years, the management team proactively initiated a five-year investment plan last year, which was officially approved by the Board today to secure and expand the company’s future growth momentum.
“Chief’s blue ocean strategy for the next five years focuses on the Central Taiwan Science Park as our new strategic hub,” said Jerry Shao. “It addresses the power supply constraints currently facing northern Taiwan while precisely targeting the ‘industry-lifestyle’ ecosystem of central and southern Taiwan’s emerging tech cities, as well as the powerful cluster effect generated by the massive AI supply chain.”
Statistics show that the Central Taiwan Science Park (CTSP) and Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP) have become critical hubs for the AI supply chain, with 2025 revenues reaching NT$1.13 trillion and NT$2.97 trillion respectively with a growth of 34.26%. Driven by robust demand for AI computing and application services, central and southern Taiwan have emerged as key hubs for the AI supply chain. Chief Telecom’s new AIDC will facilitate the entry of international clients into the region while providing local enterprises with robust AI deployment and disaster recovery solutions. Furthermore, leveraging Chief Telecom’s proprietary “Triple Fiber Network Connectivity,” clients will benefit from seamless, high-speed integration with international subsea cables, global internet exchanges, and comprehensive cloud resources.
The fourth AIDC will adhere to the “Three Highs” specification—High power consumption, High load capacity ,and High heat dissipation—pioneered by the LY2 AI Data Center. Key technical highlights include:
- Investment Scale: With a total estimated investment exceeding NT$3 billion, the project is slated to break ground in 2026 and commence commercial operations by 2028.
- Technical Architecture: The facility will feature a hybrid liquid and air cooling design to satisfy the thermal management requirements of high-density AI servers.
- Power and Infrastructure: Supporting power densities from 10kW to over 150kW per rack while strictly complying with green and smart building certification standards.
Chief Telecom noted that it has already signed letters of intent (LOI) with several global cloud service providers, major manufacturers, and financial institutions. With the establishment of the fourth data center in Central Taiwan, clients will benefit from the “Chief AIDC Ecosystem”—a comprehensive, one-stop service ranging from telecommunications and networking to AI computing power with zero-distance accessibility.
Looking ahead, Chief Telecom remains committed to leading the upgrade of Taiwan’s data center industry, satisfying corporate demand for AI infrastructure while solidifying Taiwan’s core position as a Smart Technology Island.
