Chief Telecom (6561) today announced that it has officially achieved Gold tier in the Google Verified Peering Provider (VPP) program, making it one of the few network service providers in Taiwan to receive this distinction. Chairman Jerry Shao stated that the Gold verification not only highlights Chief Telecom’s adherence to Google’s standards in cross-border network multi-point connection quality, bandwidth capacity, and service redundancy but also demonstrates the company’s leadership in the domestic and international cloud service sector.
Successfully obtaining the Google VPP validation signifies that Chief Telecom’s network infrastructure stability and redundancy have been rigorously validated and highly affirmed by the global technology leader. This verification enables Chief Telecom to establish direct, high-efficiency Direct Peering connections with Google’s global network backbone, significantly enhancing the efficiency and reliability of cloud services.
Johnny Liu, President at Chief Telecom, stated that the Google Cloud’s localized services fully comply with the regulations of the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC). According to the “Regulations Governing Internal Operating Systems and Procedures for the Outsourcing of Financial Institution Operation,” while customer data for critical consumer finance systems should, in principle, be stored within Taiwan, the rules offer flexibility. The flexibility covers scenarios where data may be stored offshore under specific conditions, such as for non-critical business systems, cases approved by the competent authority, or for cold storage of backup data in offshore public clouds.
Johnny Liu emphasized that whether for “Data Localization” or “Offshore Data Storage,” Google Cloud services assist financial clients in meeting risk management and data protection standards. Furthermore, he noted that Google Cloud usage currently ranks among the top three public cloud services utilized by financial institutions through the Chief Cloud eXchange (CCX), demonstrating the industry’s high trust in Google Cloud for both regulatory compliance and essential business applications.
Chief Telecom also meets the Google VPP program’s high-availability connection requirements in both Taiwan and Japan. Leveraging its island-wide “Taiwan Ring” fiber network and secure SD-WAN services, Chief Telecom provides service providers and enterprise users across different regions with high-speed, secure, compliant, and stable high-end direct connections. Through this partnership with Google, clients in finance, manufacturing, content industries, and government agencies can benefit from the high-quality connectivity of Google’s global network and cloud services, accelerating digital transformation and ensuring business continuity without network bottlenecks.
Furthermore, Chief Telecom offers a streamlined connection process. Enterprise clients do not need to manage the technical requirements and resource investment for Google Direct Peering independently. By simply using Chief Telecom’s SD-WAN or Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) services, they can achieve one-stop direct connectivity to Google’s global network backbone.
Johnny Liu further attributed the Gold verification to Chief Telecom’s long-term investment in high-resilience domestic and international fiber network infrastructure. This architecture serves as a vital cornerstone for Chief Telecom’s role as an East Asian Digital Convergence Hub and an AI/Cloud Service Center, while providing enterprise clients with extremely stable connection services.
● Domestically:The “Taiwan Ring” fiber network connects major science parks and metropolitan areas across Taiwan, facilitating efficient access to domestic resources.
● Internationally:Through the “International Ring” via multiple submarine cables, the network extends to key Asian cities including Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and Southeast Asia, while directly connecting to the US, Europe, and China, ensuring cost-effective access to premier international cloud services.
