Historically, traditional data center designs relied primarily on conventional air-cooling systems, with power density ranging from 2 kW to 10 kW per rack. Consequently, standard floor loading capacities were typically designed to remain within 1,000 kg per square meter.
However, the surge of AI over the past two years has profoundly transformed the data center landscape. Johnny Liu pointed out that Chief Telecom’s LY2 Intelligent Data Center operates in a class of its own, far surpassing legacy facilities. Engineered with an on-demand, user-centric approach, clients can migrate at any time; they simply need to bring their AI servers to instantly occupy a high-density, liquid-cooled AI data center equipped with 80 kW to 150 kW per rack, bypassing the lengthy design and construction phases typically required by legacy data centers.

When asked whether the rise of AI servers has shifted the demographics of colocation clients, Liu noted that the AI client profile is continuously evolving. Initially, demand was predominantly driven by pure AI compute providers or the top five hyperscale cloud service providers whose primary focus was heavy computational power. Today, however, the landscape has broadened significantly to encompass an increasingly diverse array of sectors, including life insurance, finance, electronics manufacturing, automation, and e-commerce. As these industries progressively adopt AI services, our overall enterprise client base is becoming highly diversified.
