awoo Adopt CCX for cross-cloud data transmission, connecting to GCP to eliminate bottleneck of delays
awoo utilized Chief Telecom’s latest cloud exchange platform (Chief Cloud eXchange, CCX) and connected to GCP via the private dedicated connection provided by CCX. As a result, awoo was able to shorten the email delivery time of TigerFly to three seconds, and in return improved user experience.
awoo, a company that owns a team of AI algorithm scientists, is dedicated to its E-commerce smart tagging and intelligent webpage system – nununi. Besides self-developing keyword research, SEO website optimization evaluation and data integration analysis, awoo keeps expanding their AI service with their profound domain know-how and strong research team. Aside from nununi smart tagging, they also provide TigerFly email marketing service, which can dispatch related information matching with customers’ preference precisely. All of their frontend Apps are deployed on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and enterprises can use the services by subscription.
awoo relies heavily on AI algorithms to analyze big data; therefore, they can provide more various marketing methods to their customers, with email service being one of them. For example, E-commerce clients can use TigerFly to tag on every object in the marketing emails, including the webpages the customers have browsed. The clients will receive notifications on the backend of every click made by customers, so that they can infer customers’ preference by analyzing the time they spend on the webpage and the content of it, and dispatch emails with related products. By repeated learning and adjusting marketing techniques, marketing precision will be enhanced.
Latency caused by multiple Network hops solved and precise marketing along with user experience guaranteed
Mr. Tsai Tzu-jing, Cloud Technical Manager of awoo, explained that most of their current services are deployed on the laaS of GCP, with TigerFly being more specific as GCP does not support SMTP protocol; therefore, TigerFly’s key mail system is built at Chief Telecom’s IDC and its frontend App on GCP. Users of TigerFly can log in through an exclusive web portal and deliver marketing emails by some simple clicks, or they can connect with TigerFly using API and send data automatically to the mail system in IDC for dispatching.
Due to its hybrid structure, it is inevitable for TigerFly to have latency issues caused by multiple network hops. To enhance the response speed of TigerFly, awoo utilized Chief Telecom’s latest cloud exchange platform (Chief Cloud eXchange, CCX) and connected to GCP via the private dedicated connection provided by CCX. As a result, awoo was able to shorten the email delivery time of TigerFly to three seconds, and in return improved user experience.
“In fact, awoo decided to utilize CCX even before it was officially launched. We might be its first client,” mentioned Tsai. As when TigerFly was firstly introduced, customers would have to wait for almost 10 seconds to receive emails, which requires much patience that customers nowadays do not have, and yet it is necessary to receive an authentication email to register for membership or confirm orders online. Though Google has its own Cloud Interconnect service which can fulfill the needs of transmission quality, yet the service is charged based on the Internet traffic and the cost would be much higher than the monthly rental fee of fixed bandwidth. Therefore, awoo chose to use CCX to enhance their Internet data transmission efficiency.
For customers to adopt CCX service in the beginning, there is no complicated settings as they only need to adjust their VPC’s IP based on the BGP routing assigned by Chief Telecom, and then the service is on and the customers can enjoy the low-latency and high-availability connections. Tsai explained that the servers collocated in Chief Telecom’s IDC has generated about 150 VPCs which are mainly for TigerFly to deliver emails. After starting with CCX service, awoo conducted stress tests immediately and delivered 100,000 emails. Even as the usage reached the full capacity of 100Mbps, the delivery latency was kept low. Moreover, awoo is able to capture related transmission data for statistics and analysis of their bandwidth usage by using Chief’s packet analyzing mechanism. Even at times of latency increases, they can communicate with Chief directly and the issues will be clarified at once. The localized support provided by Chief is definitely a key service advantage for enterprises that highly depend on network transmission for business operation.
